The Musette / La Musetta

This painting is a celebration of life and the carnivals where people bring their fantasies to life and become statuettes of color, energy, feathers, floats and movement or dance. It is a mystical journey through a world that escapes all reality and allows the viewer to exist at a sometimes surreal level. It also represents the beauty of the female anatomy with its curves and robust features -- something that is very celebrated in our Latin cultures. On the flip side, it represents the carnivals that are no more due to the fact that they were done away with when the communist regime entered Cuba.
