Prison / Prisión

This painting represents a period in my life in which I felt trapped. Trapped within my own issues. I remember feeling that I wasn't going to get beyond the struggles that I was going through at the time -- therefore Prison was created to represent the current stagnation, vulnerability, and lack of ability to change the current situation. I learned from this period in my life that change sometimes requires slow and one-step-at-a-time decisions in order to come out from this feeling of entrapment.

This painting is meant to be paired up with Treason. In essence both of these paintings represent a sort of mask to hide the true self for lack of self-esteem and assuredness.
