The Biltmore Apron Collection (2005) extends Rodez’s Afro-Caribbean Series into a unique medium. Created for Carnaval Miami’s “Evening of Indulgence” at the historic Biltmore Hotel, each original was painted directly onto an off-white apron and gifted to patrons and sponsors.
Rendered in Rodez’s signature Afro-Caribbean style, the works celebrate Cuban tradition through images of food, music, and dance — the very elements guests enjoyed that evening. Bold palettes, rhythmic lines, and folkloric imagery transform a utilitarian garment into a cultural keepsake.
The event featured celebrated chef Cindy Hutson, who guided table chefs, including Rodez himself, in preparing one of her signature dishes. The resulting collection became a dialogue between culinary and visual arts — an intimate feast for both palate and eye, capturing heritage in a format as unexpected as it is memorable.
