This series was entirely inspired by Rodez’s daily drives in 2003 through the streets of Coral Gables, Florida, and specifically through Alhambra Circle – truly a beautiful and soothing experience. Coral Gables was incorporated in 1925 by its founder, George Merrick. Merrick had an unmistakable vision for the city, which can be appreciated in its homes. Merrick named Coral Gables after the home he grew up in, which was made of a limestone, coral-like exterior, and fitted with very distinctive pitched roofs called gable, thus Coral Gables. With their textured walls and tiled roofs, the houses and buildings create one cohesive city-wide aesthetic, unsurprising given that it was one of Florida’s first planned cities.
