Artist inspiration:
This piece of artwork gives reverence to the human eye, the first point of reference when meeting another person or taking in any type of visual information that will then be transmitted into our minds for processing. This first point of entry is also the window to the soul. It is from here that we must take in and digest what is being said to us and we then draw up our own conclusions. It is precisely at this very vital entry point or vortex into another dimension where we must learn to filter out our differences and to coexist with our diversities, differences, and cultures. Therefore, the eye becomes the symbol or global point of reference for world peace and acceptance if we choose to see things that are different from our human nature with an open mind and heart. We must allow ourselves the luxury to learn and understand about each other before passing judgment of any kind, keeping our preconceived notion in check so that it doesn’t get in the way of the opportunity for individual and universal growth. —

The piece also served as the poster for the 2008 Miami-Dade County Sister Cities Program held at The Tower Theater in Miami, Florida.
