Artist inspiration:
A celebration of music and self-expression. In this painting, as in The Piano, the instruments appear to be quite normal and functional, when in fact they are not. On the flip side, this painting represents the fact that all forms of art are censored in Cuba, so as to ensure that any form or artistic expression does not discredit the communist regime. – The original painting of “La Guitarra” was delivered to Gloria Estefan at her then Bongos Restaurant in Miami, Florida on March 5, 2008.
