This piece, titled “Primavera A Coral Gables” was created as part of a public art fundraising project called Venice in the Gables, for Coral Gables, Florida, in 2018. Thirty-three artists were commissioned to create these pieces. The inspiration for this piece was two-fold. One, the 17 flowers, which always represent the fragility of human beings, on this piece were in memory of the 17 lost souls at Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School in Parkland, Florida. But second, it was about replacing the tragedy of their deaths with a vision of beauty and the birth of flowers.
This piece was sponsored by the Coral Gables law firm of Avila Rodriguez Hernandez Mena & Garro LLP and was acquired by Miami actress Carmen Lopez and her husband Julio Guardado as part of their private collection.
